As far as I understood the reason is trying to fix crossfire and not having ATI/AMD eager to communicate on the subject as openly as nVidia.

SLI/Crossfire had some issues some time ago. But I may be wrong, did not read all the replies.

A hotfix will probably solve it.

According to the patch release notes SLI should be running smoother in ROF!

2. SLI-related stutters were resolved (after NVidia responded to our requests and provided some specific details about their API)

Hopefully they'll 'respond' to the COD team. If SLI starts working for COD I foresee a trip to the graphics card shop!

Yes, this is what I mean. SLI/nVidea problems are fixed and ATI/Crosfire are not yet 100% fixed.

777 does not recommend SLI/Crossfire setup anyway IIRC.
