I can race and fly with TiR just as well. It all depends on which profiles you use.
For RoF I had to tune up all axes and sensitivities, while for CloD I had to do the opposite and set up a dead zone for x/y/z axes in order to aim properly. Like someone else said here - it won't make you a better pilot, but it will improve the experience and situational awareness significantly.
