Most recent official mention of any improvements to the water was adding proper shoreline effects, which at the moment don't even exist.

That was mentioned in the "Meet the Team" update. I'm hoping we see it with the next patch.

Well, I play with water= in conf.ini and get a abosolutely flat sea.

Mybee improve FPS a bit but I dont test.
