Attention all new Sim and Realistic Players.

IL-2 Birds of Prey for the PS3 has the best online community around. A majority of players play fair and will help all new players. For the most part... More experienced players will help you with settings and will lay off shooting you down until you get the hang of the game. All you need is a "Mike" and a play fair attitude. That means.... Bail out if your plane is damaged and going down! SAVE YOUR VIRTUAL PILOT FROM THE GRISLY HORRIFING DEATH OF PERMANENTLY BEING MELDED WITH VIRTUAL STEEL AND ALUMINUM!
The fact is the game (more often than not) will count you being shot down as a crash instead of a kill! Most the old timers (In realistic and Sim) will bail for you with few exceptions! The game is not always about the "WIN", for most of us, it is about the fun of flying WW2 aircraft, good sarcastic conversation and the odd history lesson!

Take care have fun and welcome to the community!

BoP...Bf109G10 is a slow turner........F4....best turner.....G6 "White9"......best all rounder........K4......fastest......
Funny enough, won two games and it unlocked... didnt think I was anywhere near that close. Didnt want it to fly, just want all my planes unlocked, I prefer the G6, all those guns, bound to hit something

PS damn shame the Typhoon didnt get in the game eh.

welcome b00zy wumpus, the games in the EST have been pretty lively lately. last monday or tuesday there were enough players on around 1 am to have 2 16 player games. there are a lot of new faces and they are in the same boat as you. learning to fly and getting their shooting down. go back through this thread and add the xbox players. you will get games for sure. you can add me Bobbysockser. happy hunting.

Excellent, sent a FR your way and to a few others. Hopefully will add more as I bump into them (hopefully not literally) mid flight.

When I bail out when my plane is damaged, the last guy who shot me gets a freebee kill unless he was killed first.

Doesn't work like that on xbox unfortunatly. If you want to bail out to give someone the kill, you have to make sure they have inflicted damage within the last couple of seconds of you bailing, otherwise you will be crashed and the enemy player will be pissed off with you for denying him a kill.

Hi all, new to BOP and looking foward to many hours of online play with you all. I live in manchester UK and play most nights from 22.30.

My love of aircraft came from many airshows from my younger years, in my teens i joined the ATC 2468 SQN and had the joy of learning to fly a small 2 seater aircraft called the Chipmunk. I would love to fly again but i guess flight sims will have to do for now.

welcome MATTXYO, what system are you using? there are a lot of players over there in both. look through this thread to find them and add them, if you just look for games it is much more difficult without "friends".

oh....if you like the chipmunk and still wish to fly cheaply. check this out for starters.

Rans are nice. i dont know what the ultralight or experimental regs are over there but it might be worth checking out.

Rookie pilot checking in.

I play on Xbox 360, gamertag BradC34, in mountain time zone (GMT -7). I play pretty randomly as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and NCAA 12 have been consuming my gaming time lately and Battlefield 3 is not too far off. I might play during the day, but rarely am I ever locked in before midnight. I've had the game for a couple months and am almost finished with all the single player missions using arcade. I'd like to get to the point where I can be good with realistic, but I'd like to wrap the game up first.

I'm a fan of pretty much all of the American craft + the Spitfire. Always loved the P-51, P-38, and F4U growing up -- hoping the latter two make an appearance in Birds of Steel (yes... I know it's not an IL-2/1C branded game, but I expect it to be very similar since it's still Gaijin).

Cut my teeth as a youngster on MS Flight Sim 2000 and Warbirds. Only recently returned to the flight sim scene thanks in large part to Birds of Prey, the best console flight sim I've played yet. Gave up on PC gaming a few years ago.

Really just looking for some opponents and/or wingmates for online. Would really like to unlock the B-17. If you add me as a friend, please say in the request that you're from here. I tend to ignore random friend requests.

ETA: While I'm here, can anyone suggest a decent flight stick for the 360? I owned Hawx 2 briefly and considered finding one, but all the reviews out there said every flight stick on the market was hit or miss (mostly miss). I'm content with the controller, though the left stick is starting to go out in my one good one. Might just need to get a new controller anyway.
