I thought triple buffering was only for open GL.Since Clod is a DX game I thought it would have no effect.

This may read like a troll post, but I'm very serious.
A couple weeks ago I turned off the framerate display, so I wouldn't be glancing at it and worrying every five seconds. Immediately, the game became 5x more fun to play. I stopped the obsessive fiddling with graphics options and started flying the airplanes more. |

Thanks all ...with 60+ hours on the CloD clock I've tried a whole variety of settings with various patches but mosy haven't really done much to improve or hurt FPS.After today i just reduced everything to low ...no grass...no roads...but kept shadows( otherwise I may just as well go back to Il-2 with 110FPS...) Anyway boom- big improvement ;I'm guess an average of 20 or so...but couldn't live without exhaust & tracers so had to go medium on "effects". Performance suffered a little, but I was able to attack those Wellingtons with a lot more confidence due to higher FPS closing in...so much more fun!
Not perfect ,mind, but one hopes that upcoming patches improve thing& someday I may be able to look in the windows of London & see a pretty young thing getting out of the bath in her flat, just as Oleg promised ( only kidding...would like to see that snappy MG-TB seen in preview screenshots tho...) Say does anti lasing setting have much effect? |

Without triple buffering working and with vsynk on you could have only 60, 30 or 15 fps. 35 or 50 fps for example would not be possible. I use ATI Tray Tools instead of D3DOverrider. |

Ataros- I'm a bit dim- do you recommend doing any of the above to get a higher FPS out of CloD? It( and Il-2 & Rise of Flight,) are the only PC sims I play/fly...

In case you have stable 60+ fps without vsynk or stable 60 fps with vsynk you may turn triple buffering off.
If you have less than 60 fps sometimes either turn off vsynk (both ingame and in drivers) or if you want to have vsynk on turn on triple buffering. vsynk forces your fps to 60, 30 or 15 fps only. Triple buffering allows you to have any fps in between depending only on how much your gpu can render, e.g. 35, 41, 48, 50, etc. fps. BTW never have vsynk on both in drivers and ingame. It must be switched on only in one place either in drivers or ingame. Last edited by Ataros; 07-15-2011 at 05:51 PM. |

triple buffer appears to be only for Open GL, when i turn it on it effects my fps and lowers it sadly. But i do use Vsync and that actually appears to do nothing lol Edit i was wrong Vsync make loading terrain blocks smoother and less stutters
