submarines . . . maybe for a Xmen preschool class mod! infantry . . . jet packs maybe for vietnam scenario ![]() I do love the pacific and wish they would put super detail in it. I love flying off of carriers. Well as for discussing the main topic . . ., I do agree with Nats, in regarding leaving the current game and making a sequel, which the devs aren't doing, nor have they mentioned it. It is a shame and greedy. Very bad. But since the dev's aren't going that route, Nat's argument is invalid for all intents and purpose(s). In this case, I'd rather present the dev team as thinking ahead. Well you have to look at the Il-2 team. I like how they are looking forward. The dev team EXPECTS this (current buggy game) to be fixed. So they have a lady already designing stuff for future campaigns. I don't see any issues in that. |

I think this great news.
I remember that even during development stages for sow/clod, expansions and dlc's have always been on the roadmap. BoB was an engine essentially, with one campaign. This means the series is continuing as Oleg said in all the dev previews we've been following through the years. Let the programmers work on patching and get the ball rolling with long modelling work. Might even get a few more planes in as bob it wont be long before everyone gets bored with the current plane set. I'm hoping the sdk comes out once the main issues are addressed too, this game would really start opening up then. Last edited by dash2099; 07-05-2011 at 12:44 PM. |

Its as simple as this - no way on Earth would anyone in their right mind buy any future "IL-2" title until Cliffs of Dover is finished and Maddox Games redeemed itself as a quality flight-sim developer who cares about its community. I'm sure the dev team is well-aware of this.
In other news, Silent Hunter 6 anyone? Anyone? ![]() |

Lol, mate.. If reviews come out saying silent hunter 6 is so good it made sh 5 look like sesame street - then everyone would probably buy it.
Supply and demand - no other current and pretty sub sims Lets say all CoD development stops today and then "Il2 - the vodka years" comes out in 2012. Great reviews, runs on a 4870 and makes CoD look like liver oil, who here isn't going to buy it? Players will just research it a bit more before buying. The effect would be more on launch day impulse buyers, if anything. If we base this on the original il2 lifecycle with all the eventual expansions, cod looks like it's heading down that same path with this news. Which is what we want right? and as a sequel will be mergeable with CoD , all improvements to the gameengine in the sequel will be also available in CoD.
ok, i have to admit, the talk to be mergeable was before CoD release , so we dont know for sure it will be. One have to be carfully to quote statements of the developers before CoD release - at least thats my experience.................... |

A conundrum for sure will it be folded into the current platform with a universal GUI as this one is purely BoB or stand alone? Just like THQ did with its COH series, one could purchase the pack/addons and still join in the online game with out the need to have previous releases.
