I agree to a point. In Australia 'god dam' is not swearing and Bugger me is not swearing. It's even in a ute commercial here as the main catch cry. I hope this forum is for all countries other than Americans and therefore 'our' acceptable language is ok. The word that came from the phrase 'Storing High in Transport' is pretty mild now and is contantly used in programs, whether on television or radio, in time frames that 'kiddies' hear. The main ones that should be banned are obvious, although there is a brand name that swaps the c and u as the middle letters of a strong swear word.
I suspect it is how these words are used in context. I would like to see people banned when they purposely 'got off their dial' at someone for having a different perception or opinion. Anyway, that's my two bobs worth.

EDIT: Also, re 'store high in transport' - I had no idea that was the origin! Learn something new every day!

No worries mate. Yeah, store high in transport came about when they shipped manure in the hull of the old ships. The water would soak into the bags, swell up and burst the hulls. They wanted the bags stored higher during transportation so they stenciled S.H.I.T on each bag. Englanders would see masses of manure bags on the dock with S.H.I.T (store high in transport) written on them thus where the naughty word came from.

That's because this supposed etymology for the word is a load of the old proverbial itself. This word has a long history and there are many related words in other languages and is certainly not derived from acronyms on shipping containers. Not hard to find information if you are interested.

That's true mate. Don't agree that the origin is a load of .... It's very well documented. Anyway, way way way off topic.

As a final word on the off-topic s-word: it seems to have deep proto-Indo-European roots, and certainly has nothing to do with sea transportation of manure. See here (and yes, the word is used here - do I get a ban for this?) for a discussion of the myth, and any decent dictionary for its etymology.
