it doesnt matter if i set targets for them, they just disengage after a really short time.
is there a way to force them to fight?like in old il2 1946 where the ai fought till death when you set up a quick mission?

Yes this is strange behaviour, It seems that the AI focuses on the next waypoint i.e. landing and they ignore enemy fire, sometimes they react other times just fly straight forward. Easy kills, this is not what we had in the IL-2 1946. So I hope that the AI will be changed regarding this.
