Ah, i thought you wanted to get into their cockpit after viewing them from external view while you simply wanted to cycle aircraft in external. Obviously the "cockpit view of AI aircraft" command probably won't work in non-flyables ones that don't have a cockpit model

Another way to quickly switch the camera to a particular aircraft without having to cycle through the rest of them is via the on-screen menus. Enable the mouse cursor if it's not already there (default key is F10), right click on your screen and you'll get a menu listing all aircraft and objects in the mission (flak guns, vehicles, trains, etc), which you can then select to view.
