That chip will easily go above 4 GHz. I've some up to 5 GHz. You can spend more money on the 2600K - but you won't see any better performance. Perfect price/performance spot. S! Gunny

Do it!
 I have mine running at 4.5 ghz probably the easiest cpu I have ever had to overclock. All you have to do is add a little extra voltage and change the multiplier (ok it can be a bit more complicated but that is the general idea). Mine is at 1.3 volts, 4.5ghz and reaching about 50 deg in games.With power supplies, pay attention to the amps on the rail not just the wattage. The newer graphics cards have pretty high requirements.

thanks everyone, on my way to build my new pc, some people say to wait for dozer or ivy but there's no way I can wait another year or what ever the time frame is. Graphics card is another story, might get 570, would love the 580 3 gb version but it's over 500 bucks, 6970 would be my first option but it's got those 3 blue lines there still trying to work out I hope, Any thoughts?
