Once it doesn't have those horrendous Metal Gear Online hurdles it should be good.

I'm pretty dubious about the "massive multiplayer" aspect. Without dedicated servers there'll be nothing massive going on apart from lag.

100 rendered cockpits sounds doubtful to me too. Probably being overly sceptical though, considering they already have their engine and can focus more on those kind of assets this time around.

Everything else looks great. The only thing I don't like is the U.S. pacific planes, never liked them. But the carrier combat and the Zeros will make up for that. Shame they didn't tip their hat to the European theatre in the trailer, but I guess they wanted to show the new stuff first.

My only reservtion is the cockpits, they look a little like 2D overlays, they look a bit flat..(?) The rest of it looks nice and fast and there's a lot going on.
All in all it looks great, bearing in mind it's at least 7 months away from release.

Fingers crossed that it delivers. (I'm buying it anyway)

I'm also glad to see a big name developer taking interest.

Not sure about 'birds of steel'... were any WWII planes made of steel?

At first I also thought the name's a bit awkward, but have come quickly to like it. It's a good name. Don't think of steel in the connotation of what the planes should be made of, but the qualities otherwise associated with the material, tough and strong, like in Men of Steel.

The name's gonna stick.

P.S.: What do you make of the logo? I love it

This is great news!!! I can't wait to hop in a Corsair cockpit! Hopefully it flys a little better than the P-51

the release date puzzles me a little. they must have a lot to work out because you would think they would want a christmas release. but is that a brewster buffalo in one of the screen shots??? this had the potential to be VERY interesting!

I'm sure if they could they would release it prior Christmas. Developments run on tight budgets and schedules, both are often exceeded without any external circumstances. In the case of this development I could imagine that circumstances played a big role, first the earthquake in Japan (Konami is a Japanese company), then the PSN shutdown which Anton confirmed had a big impact. So there you go.
