I'm gonna stick up for PC Pilot here.
The last issue of the mag was released at about the same time as the game was released in the UK and the mag is only published every 2 months. Have to admit though, that I cant see PC Pilot slating the sim even if they want to seeing as they would be sort of cutting their own nose off to spite their face (or summat like that! ![]() |

Good. Because in Custom PC magazine they reviewed it and gave it 35%. That means everyone thinks it's XXXXX and won't buy it or try it. I would have preferred that they didn't review it at all and did so later - that way we may have more people trying CFS genre. Still, if you prefer to have a nice rant to somehow proove a point that everyone else already knows then go ahead.
Regarding the article, I was rather hoping that it was scanned or copied out here so we could read it, not a pointless photo to show that it exists. Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 06-28-2011 at 01:21 PM. |

I'll take anything that PC Pilot Magazine says with a grain of salt and I've purchased the magazine for many years from Barnes & Noble.
This is also the same magazine that gave FSX a glowing 95% review upon its release. Anybody who's been around the MS FS block knows that FSX was a performance mess upon release, plagued with coding problems, landclass issues, etc. It took two major patches to get the darned thing playable. PC Pilot is in it to make money, nothing more, nothing less. |

So, did the game get released early or late? Sorry for saying so, but you seem to be contradicting yourself a bit. ![]() |

PC Gamer UK gave it 72%
Way too lenient!

I have this issue, It says while they did get the game, they were not able to play it for long enough to give a fair appraisal.
Thats fine by me, If I want an early review from a general gaming site there are plenty out there already, gamespot, pcgamer etc Pcpilot mentions the game has had performance issues since release and the devs are trying to resolve them. This preview just gives an overview of the game modes. If you need context of time they reviewed DCS A-10C warthog in this issue (and liked it) |

Editorial deadlines are far from some sort of BS excuse, and I really doubt that that mag has a large staff. So if editorial deadlines are something that means reviews/articles don't make it in major gaming publications (like edge), and are something that commonly affects other publications, then why do you think some small, niche publication with a small staff is immune to these issues? Annnnndddddd that before getting into the problems with "review" copies ![]() |

Your reply confirms my initial feelings to the fullest, thank you for trying in such a mature way yourself. ![]() You seem to be a very similar kind of person to the fanboys you do forum battle against, but then again my opinion on other people is not formulated by their opinion but by the way they try to argue it. If one has trouble accepting different opinions and starts hurling insults at the slightest hint of disagreement that's what i group them up according to. So, fanboys and whiners are actually the same kind of people with different opinions, isn't it funny? "You are what you hate" and all that jazz. Long story short, nice twist you got on your panties there ![]() Everyone knows there are problems with this sim. We can either accept reality is the way it is and do the best we can under the circumstances to improve what we can, or cry about stuff we can't change. That doesn't mean we won't talk about what's wrong with the game, what it means is that we should stop crying and start talking and you sir, are squarely in the crying category for the time being. Have a nice day, if you can allow yourself the extravagant pleasure of chilling out a bit while there are people of different opinions on the internet ![]() |

In the six years I've been reading PC Pilot, I've never seen one single review that was even CLOSE to being negative. The only one I can remember which was borderline was Zenertek's Night Environment for MS FS. PC Pilot had the exclusive interview for MS's Flight (which still boggles my mind) this past bi-month edition. I have yet to see a well-balanced review by them yet and don't even get me started on the article "The best hardware to run FSX on" back in 2006/07.
PC Pilot is a "pretty" magazine and every once in a while I find something useful in it (other than what I can find at avsim.com, flightsim.com, simviation.com or simhq.com). But for the most part, it's fluff for someone just strolling along the magazine aisle at Barnes & Noble or any other bookstore. Last edited by Greiss; 05-25-2011 at 03:27 AM. |
