I did a full clean install of steam and COD so the game would be exactly how they intended it to be. And its killing my pc too with the latest patch.

Quite honestly what is going on behind the scenes at 1C.

it soft crashed the first time, i was able to ctrl+Alt+Del rescue, the last two times i got about 5 mins of play time, and the third time straight away crash, i was getting brrrrrrr cos the sound fucked as well, you know the dreaded crash that results in the power switch.
Screw this bloody game, if i dont step away it's gonna either frustrate me to anger or break my pc.
Tested for the last hour on other games runs fine. PC is clean inside too.

512 mb vram is not enough for CloD. Land and forest textures are improved in this patch. Probably they just do not fit into your vram. I run it fine on similar ancient card but with 2gb vram. Try reducing texture quality.

And your processor is too slow. Overclock it to 3.5ghz as I did.

Try the optimization guide in my sig (#5).

ps. The patch gave a lot of improvement for me. Game runs much smoother online now and with better visual quality.
