Hmm I can't help either. But maybe the stream forums have an answer. Or maybe contact stream support. To be honest, I know pretty much nothing about stream

Sadly there's no way to opt out of Steam.

It doesn't give me much trouble as i've disabled all the fluff (apart from auto-updates resetting to on every time i exit the game, which i have to set to off each and every time) and it does run the games when your internet connection is down, but it still is not a stand-alone game.
