#2. Go to Google and find out what is the thermal limit of your videocard.

#3. Seeing screenshots of GPUs in the 50s and 60s actually means that the game does not fry anything, YOUR CONFIGURATION has the problem! (otherwise everybody's GPU would be frying, right?)

#4. 99% GPU usage means that your GPU is working. At least something is done; Had it been in the 50% you would be posting "THIS GAME DOES NOT USE MY GPU CARD"

#5. If you can hear the sound of the fan while wearing your headphones then you either have lousy headphones or you spent the $500 on the wrong card...

#6. Having worked on points 1-5 the next best thing is to work a bit on the cooling of your PC: Is your card properly "aired" Some people stuck their cards between other cards and the fan does not get proper air to cool the system.
Do you have a fan on the chassis (low) throwing air inside the case towards the GPU?

Happy Flying!
Sorry guys I forgot to do my sig in theses forums. I usually post on SIMHQ. Ok here are my specs:

EVGA X58 Classified board
Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Edition @ 4.2 ghz
Megahalems Rev. B Intel CPU Cooler
PNY GTX 580 263.09 WHQL
6 GB Corsair DDR3 oc'ed with xmp 1.2 profile
Obsidian Series 800D ATX Gaming Case
Samsung 24.6" @1920x1080

My GPU runs at about 40 Celcius normal...under a load in Rise of Flight, WOP, Call of Duty, FSX, DCS A10, DCS Black Shark, or BFBC2 it runs at about 70 celcius. I can tell you, my case is not the problem. My cooling is not the problem. My GPU is not the problem. I have three, yes three extra cooling fans in the case. two blowing on my CPU and my GFX card, and one pulling hot air out. This is the ONLY game where temps go above the mid 70s. I even ran Rise of Flight for three hours the other night and checked and not once did my card peak above 73 celcius under load.

My headphones arent the problem either. Have you ever heard a GTX 580 fan running at above 4000 RPM?? Its insanely loud. THe auto fan control is running this high to keep the GPU from frying.

So saying that my configuration, oh wait im sorry..let me say it like you did, MY CONFIGURATION is the problem is quite a stretch considering that my configuration seems to work in every other single game I play, not to mention every other game I dont play anymore such as IL2-1946, SH4, Mafia II, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor,...shall I continue the list?

I am a Gigabyte GTX 580 owner since 2 weeks. Things run really hot here aswell but it tops out at ~83C with 60-65% fanspeed after I rearranged my case fans.

I tried to figure out what caused the 99% usage but the only thing i noticed was the more options I played with the more I filled up my video ram.. This game is like running furmark or something!

if you want to get for example 50% gpu-load you will get half of framerate. Do you understand now?

I dont know if it works quite like that however with ROF on max settings I see GPU usage fluctuate between 40-70 percent and I stay at my vsync lock of 60 FPS regardless.

Don't be silly Obviously something is wrong here, no game should never have a constant max load.

Show me any game in the World that have this exact behaviour as we have here.

it is a bit silly to think constant max load is an exception in games. The high temp comes from heavy usage of all gpu ressources, not primarily from high gpu-load. There is a difference. Its wrong to discuss the high temp problem as a bug of the game..

so your saying that even though i have my card over clocked as far as it can be that it still should not be at %100 load on the GPU?

Wtf, are you raaid?

Where's the connection between an OC'd GPU and the load applied by a game?

OK Nigelmcelwee, last time I told you
Quote:
@nigelmcelwee: It will definitively solve some of your issues but nevertheless, it is not normal that your GPU works 99% all time.
My 570 works at 40% above sea, above ground 70%-90% (all numbers as per GPU-Z) so, if you have 99% all time something is not right...
Now with SLI somewhat working (it is a fix, not an official solution) I start seeing GPU at 99% and temperatures going up to 88°C
I admit I got a bit worried....

SLI fix is at: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=23199

(Did not have time to make a long test and see where the temperature stabilised)
EDIT: After some tests, my GPU temperature remains constant 88°C this is good enough and within specs so no worries.
But, if I open the case and the side fan does not push fresh air to the GPUs' fans, temp will jump above 93° immediately!
So streamlining the fresh air inside your case guys, especially if you run SLI or triple-SLI configurations will be something to cautiously watch guys!

3840x1024 desktop, 3072x1024 game, far right my GPUs % and temp

3840x1024 desktop, 3072x1024 game, far right my GPUs % and temp

~S~

PS. Luthier, please give us back the Use3Renders=1 command so that all of us with three monitors can enjoy some decent gaming!!!!!

Maybe you need a bigger air inlet!! Try cutting a 5 inch circle for a large fan to draw more air in. the internal fans are only blowing whatever your case air temp is unless you have cut holes and mounted fans drawing air from outside the case.
