Default Blenheim after landing

I thought I was doing really well for my first ever Blenheim landing.

And then I put the brakes on. (and I thought I was only doing 50 or 60 knots.. better luck next time)

I made a single thread about my screens, but I guess they should be all set here...

---------------------

Made this little mission this morning.
4 Fiat B.R.20 "Cicogna" medium bombers are reaching the southern-eastern corner of England for a level bombing run on port facilities.
Altitude, 4.000 meters.

They're escorted by 3 Fiat G.50 "Freccia" fighters, acting as very close and direct escort.
Made this mission in the full mission editor just to try to make my Breda SAFAT 12,7mm hmg fire different kind of ammunitions and see the different results.
This time, my belting was : ball-ap-incendiary-explosive-ap/tracer for both guns.
The effects of this belting is devastating... Forget about IL-2 porked Bredas... A good and well placed burst can be really effective. AP rounds and especially HEI rounds seem to pack quite a punch.
HEI 12,7mm rounds exploding on wing surfaces make some quite large holes, destroying internal rivets/cables/structures.
AP 12,7mm rounds are able to pierce any pilot protection used during that period.

Well, as you'll see, even the British 7,7mm guns are now... guns: meaning that if they're fired correctly, they'll be effective in a new and most realistic way.

MY land terrain details are very low, as my PC is quite an old chap.
Here it is: C2D 7500 ad 2,96 mhz, 2GB DDR2-800 ram, GTS450 1GB video card, 150gb HD.
Playing on 1680x1050 res.
The FPS are quite good above water. Smooth. I can't complain with my system really. I even tried some fights with about 20 planes, and everything was still good. Even above ground it's not too bad, but I can't just load trees or add more buildings.
Aircraft models set to HIGH, as Damage model Decals. Shadows ON.

The sim is fantastic. There are some problems though: I have the feeling something is way off with the G.50. It's performance are really too sub-par. It's way too slow and really can't reach its actual speed as in IRL.
Accelleration is slow too, and you just can't climb, as it begins to stall.
There is no WEP too (it had it in real life), and manifold pressure strangely is set to 700 mmHg, while on super-combat-power it could go to 860 mmHg and be able to pump out a quite decent 960hp at that altitude.
I feel something has been missing on this plane.
(btw, I already wrote this on another topic)

Other than that, this sim has huge potential, and I really love it.

Well, time for some pictures now! I hope you'll enjoy them.
Cheers
Rick

The G.50s speed up to catch their bigger friends.

Close together towards the target!

Target in sight!

Reaching the target. Enemy fighters are nearby and gunners have made their weapons ready to fire. Bomb bays opened. On the bombing run!

Enemy Hurricanes are coming!

Bombs are released just on time.

The last bomber in the formation also drops its 4 x 250kg GP bombs into the harbour.

The Hurricanes come to stop the intruders

One of the Hurricane try to hit the leader of the bomber formation.

The top turret gunner in one of the BR-20s tries to fend off the attacker with his 12,7mm gun.

The Hurricane fires with anger at the Fiat.

No luck this time. All of his burst went into the left wing, making just some small holes and nothing else. The gunner looks with real fear at the British fighter.

The escorting G.50 try to reach the fighting zone, but their speed is so slow that they will need about 5 minutes to close up . (!)

A G.50s closes up on a Hawker and fires a small burst into its fusuelage. An exploding round just goes into the forwars fuel tank, setting it on fire immediately.

An Hurricane doesn't see me coming during a right turn, exposing his underbelly and placing me in his 6 quite easily.

After some seconds, the 12,7 bullets start to hit the British fighter.

A small burst at close distance into its fusuelage is sufficient to kill the pilot immediately. (note the large piece of canvas torn apart from the HE-I bullets, and the small bullet holes made by the AP and incendiaries)

The Hurricane's revenge!! Just as I was firing on the previous fighter, another one jumped me from behind and at very close distance let his mighty 8-gun battery fire.
Only about 20 bullets hit my plane, and they just went into my head
The DM is amazing. My aircraft , at the end of the mission, was only 3% damaged.
A well placed burst.

A close-up view on the bullet holes and the slumped body of my virtual-self.

In the meantime, the BR-20s reach their home base in France.

The leader starts to land.

All safe and sound.
