that was supposed to be a ~10fps improvement for Low End Systems.
My guess is that due to the overhead of the epi filter it was hurting low end system more, if you have something more recent then perhaps it was only a small hit that you wouldn't notice, and hence wouldn't notice when it was switched off also. At least that's mu understanding from Luthier's comments.
