The point with the Epilepsy filter is that Luthier was HONEST with us in explaining a problem that was found in development. Why not give a man who is being honest the benefit of the doubt that he will be honest in the future? I'm sorry if I offend any of the naysayers, but the whole blowup over a minor thing just doesn't make any sense.

Luthier said "we screwed up, were gonna fix it" any expectation that they won't hold up this promise is unfounded, and any expectation that they are incapable of making mistakes is foolish. What gives?

As for Oleg & Co creating any hype concerning COD, that's just Bull$hit! Every single bit of hype comes from the feeble minds of those who think there is any.

I think there is a very good case to be made for not making the community aware they were even building the next generation combat flight sim. I'm not sure the communities input is worth the trouble it also creates. This communities input would be more valuable after the initial release when the hard work is done and there is more time to make changes to a flexible game engine. But its said that even bad publicity is good publicity, and most of the angst will be forgotten if the initial release makes enough to validate continued work on the sim.

Strike Dude,

You took the words right out of my mouth. Now let's all Man Up and unbind our panties. No body died here. It's all virtual for goodness sake. I think you all need a B-12 shot and should take a nap.

If it was only that "black on white" as you say it is...

I fully agree on the politeness as a way of getting our message across.

However, with so many questions left unanswered I can understand why people can't stay calm. Buggy release and "patch-ironing" was something we were all expecting. Those that didn't are in minority IMO. With such a complex simulator/game expecting something to run perfect and fluid out of the box is very optimistic.

That isn't the problem - the so called Epilepsy Filter is. And the explanation behind it. Why were last 3 months spent on implementing this (or just last 2 weeks for the stop gap "fix"), and not made optional is something the majority here can not understand, me included. More so, why was MG forced to do this and did not design the game engine from ground up with this in mind. If I understood it correctly the game was actually delayed because of this? Where did the communication break down - we will probably never know.

I personally need those answers in order to pre-purchase this game and support further development. All this does not go against my respect for the development team and the hard work put in this title. I am certain they feel a lot worse with their dream now compromised (I hope not).

If I had money to spare, I would gladly drop 50€ they are asking for it here. Sadly, I do not. Thus I am forced to wait until this title "stands up on its feet".

Very noble, but unfortunately the world has changed considerebly over time, and after 6 years of developing i think customers are intitled to expect some kind of finished product don't you agree?

I'd say the waiting is over, the real waiting has begon...i for one will watch this from the sideline before deciding.

Yes and I agree with you 100%. I've waited for this very very long, I am willing to wait longer. On the finished product note, I'd say if Oleg and team were forced to release or go bankrupt we may never have seen IL-2 CoD in the future if he had postponed the release. This may just be a compromise to haul in more funds to continue developement.

Thank you for this thread. What a lot of people need to realize is how complex and how much work has been put into this game. Because of this, no one can expect it to be very stable initially, but it's instead a huge ongoing project that needs all the support it can get from us. If we all start flaming and canceling our orders, we will only hurt the game, maybe even forcing the WW2 flight sim genre into a slow and painful death.

I for one am going to at least give the developers a chance to make things right... if they patch it and the visuals do in fact end up looking "castrated" as some are forcasting... THEN i might be so inclined to get upset about it...

but pulling my hair out over it right now seems more then a bit unreasonable.

we (Americans/Canadians/South Americans) still have a month to go.
