Thanks for the replies chaps.

I asked this question on another forum, and they believe it was actually a scavenged aircraft, maybe 'captured' after the base was over-run?

The reasoning is that if it was a shot-down aircraft the aerial under the belly would have suffered damage if it had fallen from the sky?

I'm now trying to work out if this aircraft could have been shot-up and then RTB, but deemed irreparable?
