It's priceless! Need to be sticky! And THIS topic need severe moderation! My post and any other without "serious" feedback about what must or not be included in IL-2 need to be deleted ASAP! Let's keep this topic pure! Last edited by LoBiSoMeM; 12-15-2010 at 05:20 PM. |

Can you deliver any trustable sources for.... fountains?
I mean, not those post war reports. Even still existing fountains are mostly made by new spare parts. Is there any original left? We need such sources to do it correctly or none at all. You know... ![]()

First I must make clear that water fountains are a secondary idea of mine. You should not tackle them until you have the mid-air repairs finished. That said.... Water fountains where undoubtedly a feature of the Second War. There are three reasons I can say this so assuredly: 1) The invention of water fountains predates the Second War by over 1000 years and the erection of fountains was wide spread across Europe for a period of several hundred years leading up to the Second War. 2) At archeological dig sites, fountains have been buried next to confirmed war items such as war guns, war planes, war documents and war veterans. 3) "The Chronicle of the 20th CenturyKey Events in Nuneaton and district in the last one hundred years compiled by Peter Lee 1940-49" Chronicle Four (LINK) of this historical document contains a rare, first hand account of the role fountains played in the Second War. The Entry for 1940 reads thus: Quote:
that they where "in connection with air raid precautions". No doubt, there would have been many more deaths on the 28th August, had it not been for the fountain. However, I don't think that should be modeled in IL2 for reasons of balance. I have made a 3d model of what I think the fountain should look like in IL2. ![]() edit: but not white. Letum... while I think, mid-air-repair would be a nice feature, I see fountains beeing more easily to implement, so due to our low timeframe, it would be first choise.
With 'easily to implement' I don't mean, that we consider to do a simplified model/function or such - no, we should make it work 100% historical and technical correct. I just want to assure you this. However, your model already seems nice, I suppose, it doesn't contain any LoD or Damage models yet? Please feel free to continue it. We'll think about calculation about the water flow velocity (LPM - liter per minute) for varoius types. Feel free to send us your datas at: daidalos.team@gmail.com We there also can discuss a 'maybe'-way for mid-air repairs. ![]()
