the 1946 stuff of IL2 was a waste of time/resources already IMHO.
And I like Oleg's approach on 1946, he showed that he is interested in what-if scenarios. From a developer's standpoint, trying to recreate the same planes over and over again is OK, but creating plausible (we're not talking arcade here), what-if planes is where a design team like Oleg's can play out it's creative strengths, creating a fusion between game and plane development. Because most actual modern planes start with being modeled on a computer.

During 17 years of serious flightsimming I've seen a lot of sims, planes and theatres of operations. A 109 is a 109 is a 109 is a 109. Things are repetitive. After a while, you just don't expect much of a surprise. I'm actually very much looking forward to the SU26 in SOW, i think including that is not only a terrific idea, but also a clear statement from Oleg's team pointing to possible further dev

well, i avoid the "109,190,Spit,Pony" stuff when ever i can online - i fly the 'crapplane' fighters or bombers online.............anyway, they are in historical scenarios . Thats what at least i am looking for . And 99,9% of online pilots i know too.

in enyoed Crimson Skies in the past, it was funny and had a nice singleplayer campaign !
And sure, if another developer would use Maddox SoW engine to build something like this , why not
but please not from the original developer team themself. I guess there are more "important" things to programm
