Yes lots of people have had problems with this in the past including myself. Even though it has been a while since I completed it I believe trying to not "rush" through the maneuver is what worked. Make your turns nice and easy with out bringing the wings near a stall. Doing it in realistic can help because it gives you a stall warning and if you can get through the maneuver while keeping the stall warning off through most of it then you should get credit. At least that is how I remember doing it.
