Game Won't Start, Or Not Working.

Hi, I bought this game through steam & it wont start from within the steam GUI. I have managed to start the game from within the steam folder itself, but all i get is the rig & roll splash screen & then it cuts back to the desktop after about 10 seconds or so.
My specs :

Intel i5 750 @ 4ghz
4gb GSkill 1800mhz ram
Windows 7 64bit
Powercolor Radeon HD 5970 2gb
Running Catalyst 10.4 (dropped this down from 10.8 after spotting another discussion about it not working under 10.

Problem is it just doesn't work for me at all no matter what i do.

I have re-installed Java, C++ & alll other things that I can do, I'm pulling my hair out at the moment trying to get this thing to start ....
I find a file called : hs_err_pid4316 that gets written every time i try to run the game . here are the contents: I have highlighted the erro that i can spot in red ...
