Yeah your right, that particular mission is great on co op if you have the time to play it!!

Was annoying the first time i played i though, my "wave" were second to take off, i was assigned a a wingman to the lead plane.. who clealry had only just got BoP!!!

"How do i raise my landing gear" he would say, or "how do i fire my guns"

Eventually taking off, the idiot manages to drop his bouncing bomb within 2 mins, idiot!!! so he's flying to the target with no bomb, leaving it to the 2 of us that are left. He soon gets bored and quits out.

The other guy i had with me who was the other wingman... decided to WEP all the way after take off. Eventually he pulled away because he had extra speed. I hear he didnt make it far before blowing his engines and also quitting out haha.

Left me on my own anyway... i got to the target and dropped my bomb... only to miss time it gutted.

Great mission though.


Played it many times since, with good pilots to fly with its great.


He does need the disk of KAV, since he's missing out on some great co op missions.


How did you get on with the "tirpitz" mission? Did you manage to find it on your first pass, or did you accidentally bomb the wrong ship? Thats a good one to

Just tried this over the weekend and yep hit the hospital ship in the fjord to the south! Oops! I got mixed up at low level and went hammering down the wrong valley, saw what I thought was a battleship in the distance, pulled the nose up, dropped my bomb only to realise as I did there was a bloody great red cross on the hull! Cue me back to scampton to start again. Quick question on this, is it better to enagae the FW190's that attack as you cross into Sweden or try and run and let your escorts attack them?

a guy i was playing online last night was talking about that same mission. he said he dove for the deck and ordered his escorts to cover him. he made it through BUT got butchered by the AA at the mouth of the fjord...its like the rear gunner on a 17...very accurate! so keep that in mind.

Ah the hospital ship!! Yeah its an easy mistake to make. I think had i not gone for the smaller ship then i would of probably done the same and gone for the hospital ship to.

I found that being vulnerable underneath, i hit the deck so that i couldnt be hit from below, then headed for sweden while letting my gunners do what they could, and also having the escorts help out.

Its good to see the increase in speed once you release that bad boy of a bomb though. Crawling back across the north sea with 3 engines is also a bit nerve wracking.

A good mission.

If i can get a good 360 player to use the fighter with drop tanks, then they will help get the lancs all the way to the target and back. The AI can be a bit poor sometimes.

did you guys unlock the corsair for that mission or does that mission unlock the corsair? what plane did you use?

I flew top cover in the P51 with fuel tanks, thy unlocked the corsair. If you do it in the Blenheim you unlock the Catalina and "Bismark Search" mission. It takes a ton of runs to down Tirpitz with the Blenheim. Rock hard stuff but worth it

Ah so thats how the corsair is unlocked!! I didnt know this, simply because i've not flown escort yet. I enjoy flying the Lanc that much that i've not even bothered with the P51.

Tried it in the Blenhiem though.... The amount of AAA that ship throws up at you is ridiculous. The Blenheim just gets chewed up. Completed it though.

The Bismark search mission i was a little let down with to be honest. I would of preffered attacking with swordfish. Just scouting around with a catalina for an hour or so got a bit boring eventually. Though it was good to finally spot her!! After accidentally locating royal navy ships a few times

One mission that is hard and also quite emotional is "limping home"

For those that haven't unlocked it yet, its the next one after "search for the Bismark", it puts you in control of a heavily damaged B17 with only 3 engines running (one of them smoking) and a couple of your gunners are dead so their guns are inoperable.

You have to fly this damaged bird home from somewhere over france and land it back in the UK, manston. (yes not an 8TH air force base but its what the game came with so its ok). Its hard.....

Those 2 FW190's really freak me out... they dont attack for a good 5 minutes, they just constantly stay out of the range of your guns and stalk you, its horrible. And constantly having to check your map for direction is nervy.

When those FW190's decide to attack though..... makes you panic haha. Its best to get the destroyed ASAP, because as you get to the channel 3 more appear.

I must admit though... the biggest grin ever came over me when i was halfway across the channel being attacked by 3 FW190's, thn in the distance i saw 2 more shadows... as they got closer comnig from 12 high....

THEY WERE P51's!!!!

2 of them...

The greatest sight i ever saw on this game. Seeing them come screaming past me and engaging the FW190's until they retreated or were destroyed. It was amazing. Once the FW's wer dealt with the P51's fly on your wing all the way back to Manston, before breaking off.

Then the landing....

A really good mission, i enjoyed this one.
