Total pc freeze indicates overheating, power or drivers problems. Even if an application acts really wrong, it can't freeze a PC completely in normal circumstances (OS won't allow it). I suggest checking the cooling in your PC (CPU, GPU, motherboard) and stress-testing it. Unlike many other games that are mostly video-card dependent, ToW games use the CPU a lot, actually more than the video card, so i think that either CPU overheats or power supply drops voltage under heavy load in your case. And make sure your video card drivers are up-to-date, of course.
