1. B-25 for sure. Not many other bombers I know of had a 75mm cannon placed in them so they could blow up more shit. Just looks like it'd be fun to fly.
2. SBD. You're not getting there fast, or going very far, but for putting bombs on target, you're looking good. Even managed a few Zero kills during the war. 3. Ju-88. Same as Matt said, very versatile - like the B-25. |

B26 Maurader gave the Japanese pilots fits. Fast and tough. A Zero had one pass to shoot it down after the drop or else it was GONE! Four of these bombers went through the same fighter/AA gauntlet at Midway as the Navy torpedo bombers did. The Navy was slaughtered. Almost 100% loss. The Marauders? All four made the drop. Two went down on the way out. Two made it back to Midway shot to hell. The B25 and B26 is all we had to throw at the Japs for a year, and they got the job done.
Mossie. Maybe the best twin engined combat aircraft ever built. And what a gorgeous looker. Watch the movie "633 Squadron" and you will be a believer also!!!!! |
