I'm not a Spitfire expert but according to
this site (Anatomy of the Spitfire cockpit - great site BTW):
The panel and most of the other instrumentation were painted in black, providing contrast from the Interior Green of the structural elements.
Regarding the amount of turbulence, it does
seem excessive but then I've only been in such turbulence in a much slower plane. As someone else mentioned it seems the frequency of the bumps is too high. It almost seems like the engine is about to come apart. I also wouldn't expect the RPM needle to jump around like that in turbulence but I WOULD expect that from the canopy handle/wire
Love to see a complete overcast video next!
