Its well worth buying mate. And if you do, the thing you downloaded might work with the CD copy, and you'll have an extra plane and missions.
And yes, you can communicate with your teammates, if you have a headset or microphone.

thanks, for the feedback. i'll probably head down to virgin in a couple of days and buy it. good to know regarding the communication. i guess i'm going to need to spend some hours on single mode to get a hang of the mechanics.
