I've had no trouble finding buried stuff in AP, previously. After getting K'sar's map, shouldn't I get that beam of light indicating buried treasure?

North of the village is where I'm looking, but nothing so far.

You should. And it is there, simply keep on pumping the d key while moving and it will pop up eventually.
