You see its like this; First of all they have basically given the PC gaming players the finger and told them that there will be no basic PC features in the title, everything will be console generic. In other words, no mods, no custom maps, no dedicated servers, no admins. What that means its that online its going to devolve in to spam fests and camping 24/7 with no way of sorting it (since no admins!). Coupled with constant rage quitters/hackers/bot users/total a-holes/ and TK buddies online mode is going to die a very very quick death. Now you can say that the console sales should overway these factors, but remember this. Just because I may own a console does not mean I dont also game on PC. So I am one sale thats never going to happen on any platform. Now expand that to the general number of console owners and you seeing a sales hit already. If you go by the number of people who have signed the petition against MW2, and that holds true of lost sales then that is one serious financial hit. Now Im not saying the dev house is going to die overnight, its not Flagship studios (what a failure!) but once you loose what is considered a core fanbase you loose respect. Similar design decisions are taken again and again, and it in turn alienates more and more of the fanbase till your hanging on by a thread. |

PC gaming is dying. We're left with MMO's and a few other niche genres. Gaming companies have all moved towards the console... Because that is where the money is. The average consumer gave up long ago on trying to keep a top of the line gaming rig. IW is going to laugh their way all the way to the bank as they sweep the PC crowd aside. |

I moved to Mac aeons ago, and just buy a new console when the new Xbox editions come out. For the price of just and upgrade in the PC world, I get years of happy gaming on my Xbox. Sure, I had one die, once, so what? Still cheaper than monkeying around on the PC machine. My Mac does all the other stuff a computer should do - internet, word, whatever, and by not being a PC gamer, I don't have to upgrade my Mac as often either. Which means I can buy all the Xbox games I want, when they come out! Win. Just win. |

LOL, your sig is awesome... lol. I don't think I'll ever buy another "gaming" PC again. I bought mine last year in Late November, and it's pretty much outdated now =|

I honestly dont see the problem in "keeping up" with the hardware. Ive got a 3 year old rig and its still giving me great gaming and good performance on pretty much every single game I throw at it. I havent updated anything other than adding in more storage space. And its not even a "top end" rig for its day, its a budget computer.
The only game Ive had any kind of performance problem with is Crysis. And practicaly everyone does, so thats no biggy. My comps an AMD X2 @2.7ghz/2x1gb DDR2/ATi HD3870 512. I havent yet had a game on this system thats made me need to upgrade. This from a sub £400 PC 3 years ago. Dont be fooled, PC gaming now has been pegged for ages. Its barely had any development done beyond console level. |

I think the terrorist level where you walk around an airport machine gunning scores of screaming men and women is gonna cause MW2 big problems with certification...just seems a step too far...Makes GTA look like Rainbow Island (tm)
Activision has been pulling down clips off youtube left and right... ________ Buy silver surfer Last edited by juz1; 02-24-2011 at 08:46 AM. |
