I know what you are saying tudorp. But it is not always the best/only strategy to play strike.
For example, when I fly with seraph and he takes a b-17, and out opponents also have a B-17, I will normally not go and protect him, but will go out and take down their B-17 non stop.

Easy example: B17 + La-7 vs B-17 + la7
1) if I hang around our b-17, there will be no one bothering their B-17
2) ^^ due to this, their B-17 will 100% sure score full tickets
3) If the enemy La-7 does not go dogfight with me when attacking our B-17, he will get at least a few seconds to shoot at our B-17 (for example at the first head-on pass). If this continues during a whole game, our B-17 is bound to crash one time. In this case this will cause us to lose, becuase their B-17 has been scoring the whole time.

BUT, if Im positive that I will be able to take out their B-17 every time before it reaches our targets, It is only up to our B-17 to stay alive for one bombing run.
Since you normally have enough time to take down the enemy bombers before they reach target, I find this a safer option.

so normally, no, i will not protect my bombers (unless they ask me to), I will go hunt theirs. Focussing purly on their heavyist bomber.
This 'tactic' has not let me and seraph down so far so i will keep doing it

If you are flying fighter and are not able to take down bombers quickly, then by all means defend your bombers and take down their fighters! But if can take down a B-17 in less then 10 seconds, plz do that
