More than half the board consists of OT-posts if SoW is considered OT, including Olegs News-Thread-Sticky...

But some trolls really tried to top each other in the last few weeks, especially when 409 was closing in and some official audience visited the forums more frequently.
And several people violated the forum rules in the sticky and even complained in regard to that and the new patch. So I can very well understand why some people felt the boot.

I can think of one person who, that on the day the patch came out, had nothing better to post then his negative diatribe against Oleg & company... This person all but claimed that he had a "license to troll", because the mods had never closed any of his topics. I believe that his logic was; "the mods probably approve of my stance because they never banned me."

when i saw tree's purpose made whine-thread yesterday my reaction was the same, booooooring !!

i think he believes his constant complaining will get a quicker response out of oleg and Co, and acts as if he personally is owed something from the universe because oleg said something, somewhere, sometime in the past. but i think it makes absolutely no difference in that regard, and the constant negative posts always on the same topic just get rather boring

since he hasnt posted in the last 24 hrs he is probably on a short time ban and got his buttocks spanked for stepping over the line

no need to vilify the mods over it either, tree himself would have known where this was leading to

while we'r on the topic, where is those september in game scenery screenshots we were going to get ?

You took the words right out of my mouth.

That an exact description of some peoples mindset and this became very obvious over the past few weeks.

This + the more I whine the faster we get an update (especially when somebody important see's that I *as a valued customer* am upset)

Well, as a long time Amnesty International member I do have problems when the freedom of speech gets limited without a really god reason. No matter how stupid an opinion is, censoring is not OK for me. Naturally that does not include opinions that are out of bounds (political, racist, criminal etc). I've been spending a lot of time writing letters to Saddam Hussein, Muhammar al-Gadaffi, Mikhail Gorbachev (i'm old) and other leaders controlling the masses by deciding which opinions are OK, trying to get political prisoners free that I in many cases did not like (weird political opinions that I now way endorse). Still - I have tried to get them free as the right to express your feelings without someone editing/deleting or suppressing them is one of the most important ingredients of a society where people respect each other - no matter how stupid or negative someone is...

Sure this is a private forum so they can do whatever they want with posts here, myself as a moderator would have locked a thread I did not like with a motivation. It's the deletion that makes me irritated as it makes me think to much of Saddam and the others controlling what people are allowed to think, without the guts to give a motivation for why some articles just "disappeared" from the newspapers when the political editor was done...

So, I would have had no problems with someone locking Tree's thread (even though I'm also tired of the bad PR management of this IP). I also feel that the waiting for SoW is not so interesting now that 4.09 has finally arrived and I'm really happy with that, especially with more patches in the pipeline. I will happily pay for 5.0 whatever it's called, and if they continue developing IL2 it would really fill the SoW hole...

/Mazex

Your opinion is far from stupid, but it's based on a wrong setting.

This is not public media or a political forum for democratic discussions. This is more like you invite some people to your home, because you want to play a game with them, but they keep ranting, calling you names, offending your wife and family, making fun of things that you hold dear, of your work, demanding private information and ranting if you don't give it away easily. And if you say something, they rant even louder, as well as when you make presents to them.

Now life through that a few years and I want to see you still inviting those very people for a nice dinner.

I don't like whining.

But on the other hand, I think that a good forum moderator has to be tollerant and patient.
Each of Tree's (or anyone else's - I'm not talking about specific persons) "whining" threads had some true to be discussed within them, and moderators should allow it, as long as it's not getting "bad".

What's "bad"? Well, not the whining. Many of us are married to whining wifes and we still live with them

One of my own definitions of "bad" in a forum is the personal attack to some other member.
By attack, I do not mean the "hot" discussions. I mean simple things like "you're a faggot", "dolphin is a bastard" or put whatever else personal insult you want here.
That's where a moderator should interfere immediately, so as to not let time to the insulted member respond. Which response is justified, as long as the moderator has not interfered before.

Closing, I'd like to say that it's obvious that I agree with Mazex (and other members of this topic), but this doesn't mean that I do not agree with Feuerfalke as well!
The response we get from each membet comes from the level of their involvement in this forum, i.e. Feuerfalke is too active and thus tired of opposing same ol' shit each day. Maybe he should not be involved that much. It would do good to him
