I suggest you start by disabling sound in the game, see if it runs better.
Reduce your monitor resolution to 1024x768x32. You will be able to raise the refresh rate, to 100Hz on most CRT monitors at this reso. I'll be frank. This rig is not particularly suitable for IL2 46. Both the CPU and the graphics card are quite feeble and you will need to back the settings down considerably to get a smooth-running game. I would suggest reducing your Sound Hardware acceleration a notch or two, using the appropriate control in the dxdiag interface. Switch off audio enhancements in IL2 Setup. Ensure that in-game radio function is switched off. Try to trim all eye-candy and then raise it up once the game is running aright. Another dxdiag would be handy to make sure that the adjustments have gone right. B

+1, sempron 2800 and a 9600 just aren't going to keep up with anything other than QMB missions.
My athlon xp 3000+ was bad enough, it couldn't cope with more than 10-20 planes in an online mission, let alone a detailed offline mission. I didn't matter what I did with the graphical settings, the processor was holding everything back. Even now with an E8400 at 3.8GHz, and a 9800gtx+, the new maps and/or populated towns + explosions + zoom cause a loss of FPS. |

I ended up restoring to a to a previous backup point at around 1am this morning. will try again later.
Im not running Il2 1946 i'm running fb+aep+pf not sure if that makes a difference but i did used to play this with my existing cpu and video card. Ok i couldn't play it on max settings but it did the job. i really only use my pc for internet and poker now. so i cant really justify upgrading my pc for one game. I use my xbox for games. Thanks for the help again i will have one more bash tonight. |

Hi
Glad to see the settings worked ok. Stay focused on one thing at a time making too many changes all in one go will make it harder to fix. Try putting the old motherboard drivers back in if the Nvidia 5.10's are a problem (working on the assumption you said it was fine before) you shouldn't have need to change these drivers if your system was working fine. I know your using IL2 AEP v404m so you should be ok with your system just lower the resolution then start from there, dont forget the table of resolutions and refresh rates I posted too. Ok
Have you restored the Nvidia Chipset drivers ? System restore wont restore all the files you have made changes to. If stuck install the original Motherboard drivers and start again where you were originally. It could be the chipsets aren't talking to each other properly since installing the 5.10's Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 09-15-2009 at 09:03 PM. |
