SlipBall,

I don't fly RoF that much either.

It's a fun sim/game for dogfighting, it really is, but I really am not very good at it as I fly so infrequently. Some players have mastered the totally non-historical sniper shot from long distances which takes some of the fun out of it. Add to that the rather dubious damage modelling and it can be a bit odd. Still fun though.

There are lots of aircraft to choose from for ground attack. Everything from the "heavy" bombers of the day (Handley Page and Gotha) to the two seaters, to bombed up single seaters. Overall my favorite is the Bristol Fighter. It's fast, can carry a good load out, and can often fight it's way out of trouble if your escorts get caught up elsewhere.

I have tried an offline campaign or two, but just like every other sim I get quicly bored offline. I am not one to be an honest judge of offline, as I am very biased about it. I don't like it in any flight sim.

Get the free trial and give it a go. It is fun, but like every other combat flight sim that has ever been made, it has it's issues.

I will say that stick time in the old kites will improve your WW2 flying. 1940's planes are so easy.

Just wanted to add that I believe the "non-historical sniper shot from long distances " was eliminated in the revised gunnery update a few patches back which brought in more realistic gun synchronisation and bullet dispersion.

As for not being very good at it I had similar experiences and found it very frustrating initially - it is quite a shock to the system to get to grips with WW1 birds after being used to WW2 and later. The turns are incredibly tight and the armament is equivalent to peashooters. It took me ages to be able to hit anything.

Have you tried the Pat Wilson Campaign Generator? Its similar to DCG for IL2.

I was getting very bored with the offline campaings availible for RoF, but using PWCG makes things much more interesting. Like getting jumped by 11 Nieuports 11's in my Eindecker interesting.

LoL. I bought the game within the first month of it's release (being in US I couldn't buy it day one, though I bought it before it came out here).
Tried it, saw terrible optimisation... su 26 missing... terrible FM terrible IA.
Put it back in the closet where it belonged but had no problem with the buy since it was financing the team that was gonna make it better.

Well I checked every week... then every other months... then not at all till last month... surprise xD !!! Su 26 is up!!! Though I don't like the FM of it that much, I can finally ENJOY a virtual aerobatic airplane!!

This game has FINALLY gotten interesting.
So am I still flying CoD?? no..
I'm just starting to!
Game is now smooth with amazing FPS, graphics. and though FM aren't as amazing as I hoped they'd be, they are amazing still.

Nice poll SlipBall.

Addicted to it, haven't touched anything else for months.
