Add another to the long list of people prematurely predicting the death of COD. They've all been wrong for the last five years and I would suspect they will continue to be wrong as long as the game engine keeps evolving. It appears the Sequel will include the Channel Map which will benefit from all the feature improvements in the next release. It will be interesting to see what changes/additions are made in the developers plans with the pending announcement.
Well, now it HAS died. A game which lacks workable AI radio commands (and more AI issues), has numerous flaws in FMs, massive problems with LoD and many more massive bugs and flaws, has just recieved its "last" patch (the first "real" one, to be honest).
I just don't understand why certain people always hop in, unprovoked, and start to bash people who actually can't ignore multiple game-breaking issues. This very false sense of pride requires at least 3 rose-colored glasses stacked on top of each other.

And before anyone's asking: I am still here to see what can be made of this "abandoned battlefield". After all, I've paid for the game, too.

I have to say wonderful screenshots! I love that brand new factory Spitfire look; I absolutely hate the forced weathering effects.

Thanks for sharing!

Why would you think that improved AI Commands in the Sequel won't work on the Channel map. Of course they will, along with the new GUI, Weather/clouds, FM, AI, new features, etc, etc, not to mention using the map SDK to improve the Channel Map.

There are far more important problems than weathering. Related to skins is the bug that skins eat up bullet holes, one moment you have a plane full of holes, next time you look, holes are gone!

Only small problem is that the sequel wont be in until late 2013 or 2014. Its 2012 now.

I know the release date hasn't be announced yet, but como`n, does anyone believe it will get here earlier.

Adding to that, the SDK, well, wasn't that suppose to be included in the original release, or there a bouts? (translation: who knows when)

The sequel wont be 2014, its not financial viable. If they left it that long they would all be living in cardboard boxes.

Spring to Summer 2013.
Place your bets!...

I agree with you. I suspect that the team is much further along than anyone here thinks they are. I doubt that the guys in suits who dole out the money for the project would have kept the tap running if they were not.

i have been thinking the same lately, particularly after rereading a few of luthiers and B6's cryptic quotes from the last few months

my suspicion in a feb/march 2013 release for BoM

i'd wager a fiver on that, what odds can i get ?

another though is that some of their remarks could also indicate they will skip BoM completely and release it as an MMO instead, which i think would be a major mistake. first they need to prove their CoD/BoM product is working and recoup some of their good reputation and customer trust, and only then expand to he next project. the MMO has to many new variables in it, and potential issues that can get out of control, resulting in time loss, or under delivering on what they promise. that second blow would kill the whole project, a loss to us all as a result.

so my hope is, BoM early in 2013, and an announcement on the MMO project that will follow.

one very big downside is that i hear whispers from several directions that inclusion of "end user made content" and 3e party projects (planes, ground vehicles etc) have been significantly postponed, or even cancelled completely for CoD/BoM. that would spell trouble for us because it means their "user participation" that was planned for the SoW series has been axed (indicating a major change in the project, eg the MMO). the il2 community involvement is what made il2 the great series it became, locking them out in favour of some vague MMO project with lots of additional payware from 1c would not attract the same enthusiasm i fear, and luthiers lack of urgency in addressing flight model issues and weapons errors is a further indication of that their project priorities have changed significantly.
