Quad-core support allows for some faster terrain generation I read somewhere. It's definately improved a lot. I have almost no stutter-problems not even over london and mostly smooth FPS sometimes playable FPS, but not smooth |

GTX 570 is ~1,3gb and sufficient to play CloD if you can sacrifice a few graphical options. I still get the impression that I'm running the game well beyond the communitys average graphics without much trouble. The idea is to buy another 570 once the price drops and run it SLI with 2,6GB total Vram |

I run it on a Gigabyte 560TI SOC, with everything at max, and it runs flawlessly, without any microstutters or anything. The system is in my sig.

If you notice your FPS dropping due to hitting a VRAM wall with a single GTX570 you will still hit the exact same VRAM wall with two of them. |

TY
I think maybe I'll go for a GTX 590 then when the prices are dropped on that, or sell my old GTX 570 HD and use the money to upgrade to a 580, we'll see |

590 is a SLI card and has the same limitations. The ultimate solution today is aiming at 2 or 3 gtx580 with 3GB vram each in SLI. But in 6 months things will be much different as usual.

I also use a 560ti with 1 Gig although mine's an Asus. I also run with everything on maximum and get smooth frames. I have vsync on as I find that stops the props flickering and over the sea I am mostly getting 60fps overland 40 fps upwards and over London mid to high 30s or more.

The conclusion was that it didn't help with framerates. I and other with me interpret that as that a SSD disk won't do anything for the game. When it comes to VRAM I read about someone who said CLOD took max 1,5GB of his 2GB. I dunno. I woudn't go less than 1,5. Gonna check usage myself (got 2GB) but dunno which program to use. When running W7 and quad core you can see in task manager the usage of each core. When I launch CLOD I can see how it uses all four cores. Neither one goes to max but they are all used. Note, I didn't have this computer before the patch that balanced the load on all cores so can't say if anything changed. |
