I doubt you understand that for onliners open mods would be a disaster, I 'm with Frankyboy on this, there will need tro be something sorting the mods from the real game online, as there is in ROF, then if a mod is popular, historically correct etc, the devs may incorporate it into the standard unmodded game, of course there would most likely be allowances for maps and skins being allowed.

Hahahahaha, when you say "open mods" you mean like almost every other game?

I can browse a bunch of counter strike servers right now, a ton of which have VAC enabled, and play on them in a matter of minutes, even if they have mods. Even if I don't have that particular mod the server is running it'll automatically download all the files I need, and with no real worries of hackers trolling those servers. And this is all on that evil, evil steam.

In my experience, the only community that runs with the "mods destroy online" trick is IL2. And thats because they largely did, thanks to a lack of anti-cheat features present in the original game. But almost every other game conceivable, representing every major genre, has benefited from mods.

I doubt you've played many games other than IL2 and flight sims...........

EDIT: or really anything involving computer programming.........
