Default Catalyst problems?

Does sound like you might have this performance degradation too. Ignoring the reset catalyst settings for now, do you see a performance drop over time (say, running three or four missions over different areas) or from initial loadup/first flight?
Thanks Orpheus, I certainly have a performance degradation similar to you. I did upgrade my ATI drivers before the new patch, though several times since then I have 'tweaked' my 3D settings to get the best performance. The performance definately drops over time - up to five missions. Until now I never thought to look at my Catalyst control centre - and there it was, a default back to the original settings. I will do some more tests to see when this 'default back' is occuring and post some more info.

Ah right ok then, I've done the same. I've just checked and my Cat settings have remained the same so definitely not seeing that on my system, sorry!

Up to five missions sounds about right. I found that if I stayed on the same mission the drop was far less noticeable (slight stutter creeps in around the third playthrough sometimes, but not immediately present), but if I move about between quick missions the performance gets steadily worse after the third or fourth, dropping in fps/general performance by around 50%.

I don't get it when I play campaign either, which coupled with the fact the degradation is far less present when repeating several attempts at a single mission, leads me to suspect it might be a terrain loading issue. Staying in the same general 'mission area' seems to prevent the degradation or at least mitigate it - if you load several mission areas you start to see a hit.

Be nice to to hear from anyone who may be having similar trouble so we can compare reports.

I i mentioned earlier i got the same problem, first go to crosscountry, steady 60FPS, then london and back to crosscountry i got 30-40FPS.
What is strange i got this problem only in crosscountry only too. Sometimes i go first Crosscountry and get steady 60FPS and maybe next time when i start to play go straight to Crosscountry first and get 30-40FPS.

Checked with fraps, and i see that difference with my eyes too, when i got 30-40FPS there is little warping on lowlevel flying, i mean all details is jumping a little, when steady 60FPS no jumping on trees and other details at all, very smooth then

500 ~ 700 ft seems to be the level to keep above for smoother flying

yes, something is awry in the memory side of things regarding retention and loading between missions

Even duct tape can't fix stupid... but it can muffle the sound.

Well I took to the skies for the first time in an age as I wait for CloD to become Operational and was pleasantly surprised at the Frame-rates Over the Sea), however my Joy was short-lived

After successfully shooting down two aircraft then crashing into the Sea, I hit Escape to go out of the Mission....Oh Dear!

Game went back to desktop, but the Program was still running as the Launcher was still active. In the end I had to "End Process" of the Launcher.exe to get back into the game, suffice to say the track of the shoot-down was gone and I am now having to refly it

I have CloD through Steam, deleted the Game-Cache and verified the files to update to the latest version on my Windows 7 64-Bit System with all the latest drivers for the Realtek On-board sound and Nvidia 560GTX TI.

So I don't know what bug it is, but hitting escape after a mission gets the game straight back to the desktop, but with the Launcher.exe still running

Cheers, MP

I seem to be getting a gradual degradation of performance as the game progresses as well. I have been trying roadczar's ATI xfire workaround (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=23180) and gave a brief description in that thread.

To cut a long story short, the increased initial performance using the workaround has possibly made the gradual degradation in FPS more noticeable to me now.

Could be a memory leak in the game...
