We ARE the free world, given this forum deals with a WW2 sim you would think some appreciation would be given to us Americans given how much help we gave the whole of Europe the UK and Russia during those years. How easy we forget... Tell ya what, the next time some crazy German decides to pwn your country(s) again, dont call us. After all, we are here for your amusement not to fight your wars right? Keep fighting these so called Americanisms (wtf does that even mean?) and us Americanismsms wont take any notice of you anyhow. Glad we could amuse you, perhaps after a few decades under some totalitarian rule you will beg us to stop making you laugh and come save your sorry ungrateful asses, again.

Of course the world appreciates the great sacrifices your troops made, but the Americans back stateside, hardly suffered at all in comparison with the British, Europeans and the in particular the Russians. Oh by the way it's the Aussies and British helping you fight your wars at the moment, should we do this lend lease or just because we are allies? Apologies to 99.9% of Americans as you are good people, but saying that you ARE the free world is a bit much, I'm quite happy living in Australias little piece of free world thanks. |

Spot on mate. I love the 'don't call us' comment. I don't think anyone would after they snubbed everyone anyway and only did something once they got their butts kicked (ww2). Who called who after 9/11. |

Wtf - this guy shouldn't have received his wings in first place.
Who checked him? Even in ancient Rome soldier were checked for epilepsy - the were placed in front of a rotating wagon wheel with light source behind. Even worse: He dumb as a piece of bread. What made him tell the doctors the truth, that he had an epileptic seizure?! Being a pilot he should have been aware of the outcome. He should have told them he fell, happens. Anyway, I wonder how this ends. Imho he probably will be successful om claim medical costs, but not any loss of income. |

the actual free world and "best country in the known/unknown universe" is SPAIN. We don´t care about rules or laws. We just do whatever the f**k we want. And we are also cleverer than the rest of the world, specifically when it comes to the economy. That´s why we will follow Greece, Ireland and Portugal on their way down into the abyss. Main point is: every land has its goods and its bads.

Interesting to see how this guy will argue in court that the game CAUSED his epilepsy- as someone else commented it was rather lucky for all concerned that he had a seizure in his home rather than at the controls of an F18.
I'm not sure how the tort of negligence is applied/is applicable in the USA, but he wouldn't get far in most places in the world. There would be a lot of interest in his medical history, especially if he had been using stimulants for long range missions , as well as illicit drug use, head injuries, etc. He may be making a very brave call to take this through the courts, he may be heading for a whole new world of problems. On the other hand, there is very little detail given in this article... and the devil is always in the detail. |

As for your 9/11 comment, really? Do you really think we needed help with this? Look at it this way, we get involved in all your major wars and when a small incident happens in the U.S. we figure "What the hell, might as well call the Brits and cash in a few favors." I'm sure the 5 troops you guys sent us will be a big help, I mean how could we fight terror without them? (The war on terror is a joke, but what can you do?) Exactly what have any of the UK forces done to help in Afghanistan? Oh right, you brought us tea! Thanks chaps! The Canadians were more help, they make good target practice for our F-18s, send more of them if you can. Its always mentioned by someone who has no idea about the history of American involvement in Europe between 43-45 that our help wasnt really needed. Perhaps the war could have still been won without American assistance, though in the Pacific I'm quite sure Austrailia would be speaking Japanese about now, but think how much more it would have cost those involved. When Britain gave up on daylight bombing raids and resorted to terror bombing German cities at night (a tactic that did little if anything in helping to win the war) the U.S. 8th airforce stepped up and continued to precision bomb German factories and installations despite heavy casualties. How many Russian and British lives were spared by these raids that stopped production of warmachines and armaments that would otherwise have made it to the fronts? I'll leave it at that I suppose, this isnt a conversation/argument that anyone is going to win, just having a bit of fun with it. Please remember to keep your responses coherent and add to the debate. |

That joke about Canadians making good target practice is borderline sick by the way. Oh, I'm grateful you guys did jump in in the end. But both American involvement and the later Marshall help were mainly done out of self interest (had to create a buffer against em nasty commies) |
