Used to do this on the territorial conquest gametype of fighter ace online. You would attack the base with bombers, once it reached a certain amount of damage a column of friendly AI tanks would spawn and set off to capture it, opposing teams protecting/trying to destroy them. Or, as mentioned, grab a C-47 or Ju-52/3m and drop paratroopers who would then capture it (hopefully intact) so your team could then make use of it. You'd have to destroy all the gun emplacements first though or they'd kill all the men, if they hadn't shot you down first because you had to fly low and slow for them to jump safely.

I remember one time playing as the Luftwaffe and being pushed back to our last airfield, seeing defeat was imminent I started messing around and dropped paratroops all over our own runway, after about 70 or 80 of them were dropped and running around someone wrote on the chat "could whoever is dropping paratroops on the base please stop, it isn't funny anymore"

Well it was funny at the time...
