+1 on that. Thank you very much guys!

I am still laughing at this from the 4.10 complaints and 4.101 fixes :

If you have the new skins, do others without them see them as well? Or do they have to have the new skins too?

Default USN/USMC/USAAF markings for Corsair I,II,IV

After installing the patch 4.10.1 When selecting the Corsair MkI, and turning on markings for USN or USMC or USAAF on all of the new Solomons maps except Jan 44 the US marking applied to the aircraft is the early US national marking of the white star, blue background (circle) and red dot in the center. This insignia was last used at Coral Sea in early May 1942 and was not present for the Battle of Midway. Is there a fix in the near future for this? This also occured when I tested the same maps with the Corsair MkII and Corsair MkIV. Best I can tell no other aircraft are affected this way except those I mentioned here.

The Corsair Is, IIs and IVs are the British versions (with slightly-clipped wings to suit lower-ceilinged carrier hangers), so presumably wouldn't normally have had USN/USAAF markings. Do the F4U versions have the same problem?

I am very aware of every version of the F4U Corsair built from the F4U-1 thru the AU-7 and when and where they entered service. The F4U-1 through F4U-4 were in combat in the Pacific in WWII.

We unfortunately in the stock game have to use the Corsair Mk I as a substitute for the F4U-1 which is listed as a GB plane. The Corsair MkI was identical to the F4U-1 in every detail but the camouflage paint and national markings. The Corsair Mk I just like the F4U-1 did not have clipped wings and therefore it never was put aboard the Royal Navy Carriers. In any case we should be able to select the correct US markings for this aircraft.

The Corsair Mk I never entered combat not even as ground based. Most stayed here in the states and were used for training at places like Brunswick NAS here in Maine. The F4U-1 however was active during the the Solomons campaign starting in February 1943 and then flying right along side of the F4U-1A all the way through Bougainvillea. Converted F4U-1 were made into night fighters with 5 machine guns and a radar dome and designated F4U-2. They were part of the VF(N) squadrons during the Truk raids.

The Corsair Mk II, (F4U-1A by Vought, F3A-1A by Brewster and FG-1A by Goodyear) & Corsair III (F3A-1D by Brewster) & Corsair IV (FG-1D by Goodyear) were the Corsair variants that had clipped wings and were placed aboard the Royal Navy carriers. Corsair Mk II participated in the attacks on the Tirpitz in April 44 and simultaneously in the Indian Ocean also in April 1944 and later Sumatra and later with the Corsair Mk III and IV at Okinawa and Sakashima and Japan in the Pacific.

So until a decision is made to put the F4U-1 into the game along with the Corsair Mk I or as a replacement for the Corsair Mk I we will have to select it. Earlier versions of the game, when selecting USN/USMC/USAAF as markings for the Corsair Mk I, incorrectly put over sized white stars on blue discs which were similar to what the VVS did on lend lease US aircraft where they painted the white stars red which extended beyond the edge of the blue disc.

Daidalos will not add the F4U-1 due to the unclear legal issues surrounding all aircraft and ships "claimed" by Northrop-Grumman (they owned Vought until 2000). Sorry.

Could it still be added under a fictitious name (and minor shape changes, only if necessary due to copyright) if most wouldn't bother?

Not gonna happen, and besides, that's very tacky. We don't need a repeat of what Ubisoft did to the Allied aircraft in SH4 and SH5.
