Default Disgrace

Hi im new to the forums as you can obviously tell i had to register because i wanted to ask the devs what an earth was they thinking when they released this so called flight simulator. I mean were is the rest of it? sort of like reading a book and finding out the last 2 pages our missing. Surely you cant be selling this to the steam community without any warnings of its major flaws that are game breaking in my opinion. Constant ctd/stutter/invisible bombers with icons/flying though trees and buildings/low fps i could go on and on about how many things are not working. I mean surely you must feel embarrased about what your doing to innocent customers how the hell can you run a company like this? As a gamer i have played many games over the years and admit ive bought some that havent been finished in certain ways but my god never one this bad its still in alpha and you sell it on steam for £29.99 i dont know how you can sleep at night knowing you have done this to your fanbase. So as a paying customer i have the right to know what your going to do about it because this is just not acceptable

No point crying over it anymore. You bought it, you could have easily come to any forum and seen what the problems are. Every forum is filled with unhappy pilots. CTD, stutters, low FPS bla bla. Game is broken no doubt about it, but you made the decision to buy it, no one forced you.

On another note: They have been patching the game over and over and over, with little success to anyone. Its been almost 12 months since its release and for me personally the game is still unplayable.

I have this system:

I7 2600K
12 GB 1600 DDR3 RAM
Asus P8p67 pro board
2xAsus ATI 6970 overclocked to run at 920 mhz
64 GD SSD (with win7 and CoD installed only)

From that system i can play any game on full settings without any stutter or CTD or hitch with a decent 40 FPS. CoD is another story: low alt multiplayer flying 22-36 FPS on high settings with numerous things like grass turned off. High flying multiplayer 32-44 FPS with non stop stutters when i move the view in the cockpit using trackIR. End result? Game sitting on the shelf have not had any decent gameplay at all, only come to check if the new patch has fixed my problem, so far nothing useful.

Lastly these promised patches that would improve performance did bugger all! and now the developers are fixing aircraft performance, seriously? how can i even test performance when i CTD before i get to 8K ALT? or when i stutter like a dog with broken legs... Priorities people, priorities. Fix the dam performance issues 1st then move onto adjusting airplanes. Dont do 2 things at once otherwise neither will be done to a good standard.

P.S Another game that was released broken was RO2, but after the community complained at the developer TWI, the game was constantly patched over and over, but the patches actually worked. It would CTD for me after 15 minutes of play, have terrible frames. Now i can play it for hours on end with 60FPS locked, constantly and not a single problem. They are now picking out bugs from the game AFTER they fixed performance. They got it right, 1C has not...

That is what wonders me the most see my system specs its a lesser CPU and one VGA card but ive got a smooth experience, CTD's are there but not
often. even dust wipped up behind the plane on take of don't bring the system down.
how come these enormus variations between systems that are not to unlike?

It buffles me also. I remember when the games was released people had monster machines that would struggle to run on medium/high settings. At that time i had a Q6600 with 4GB RAM and 4870 card, and i was not getting CTD at all. Given the frames were not great but i could at least play low/medium settings.

Now when i run CoD I check my PC performance on procexp (its like windows task manager but on crack) and looking at it the VGA is around 85% usage , the CPU cores 1+2 are hitting 80-100% constant the other cores are resting from 0-80%. So There are plenty of system resources left. What the problem is i do not know. But i am willing to bet its a memory leak in RAM that is causing all these problems for me. How to fix i dont know.

But see , you people are criticizing a person you think doesn't exist but alot more do. The OP is just an 'average joe' computer user and is computer and maybe internet illiterate. He brought a hard copy from a store , has no idea about Steam or digital downloading ect ect.

Sounds like you're running at too high a resolution, have your settings turned up too high or there's something seriously wrong with your system.

I have an old i7 2.6Ghz, 2GB memory, an ancient GTS250 1GB card and all running on XP. Other than regular CTD I'm running very smoothly and getting a good deal of enjoyment from it.

I think people's expectations are far too high. The devs have always stressed that like the original IL2, the sim at release was unlikely to run maxed out on even the latest hardware. The patch should help of course.

For me it was great to hear that Luthier is at last off loading more onto the other cores. I really hope they get tree collision dedicated on one of the cores soon.

I find that very hard to believe.

1. Why have you got an i7 (also which one is it? 2500K?2600K? sandybridge?) with other components so outdated?

2. The GTS250 would blow up running this even with everything on low. Its just such an old card. My ATI4870 struggled to run it.

3. 2GB of RAM? really? You can run this game with 2GB ram and enjoy it? Also can you tell us whats the ram like? is it DDR3? DDR2? whats the clocks and the speed on it? In any case, 512 MB set aside for the OS, another 256 for open process leaving u 1.25 GB ram to run CoD. When i run it with my 12GB RAM the game maxes out at 2.87GB of memory used.

I call shenanigans on that post. Its also buffling why would you have an I7 which would be limited by every other component on your system. Just does not make sense.

So if you care please post these things:
I7 core and what edition
What exactly is the RAM
Motherboard
The Vram on the GTS250.
Game Settings.

As for resolution on my system. The computer is forcing the TV to run at full 1080p HD. So the resolution is 1920x1080. However the TV supports also 1920x1200. Furthermore I already posted the resources that the Game uses. The system is not maxed out and there is plenty of headroom with resources that could be used. And even at the lowest settings the stutters are not resolved.

I remain certain that its not me pushing the game or the system, its the memory leak occurring from RAM.

Does seem strange I agree. My i7 is one of the 1st I think so not one with a fancy name. The GTS250 wasn't that old at the time I believe and seemed good value.

I seem to remember the memory was DDR3 but not sure what difference it makes.

I'm at work now but will post my settings later.

I do think it's just down to me running it on 1280 something resolution. With medium settings and no grass/shadows etc. it looks OK to me and I can still enjoy it.

I do plan on upgrading my card, memory and OS after the patch though.
