If only..

Sad truth is info or no info, this forum has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that there will be speculation and rumors

In essence a loose loose for 1C, as in dammed if they do, dammed if they don't.

Knowing that the smart move for 1C is to simply say nothing as save the time and money spent on providing info that the butt hurt agenda trolls will simple 'spin' into something else

And in our world I provided you examples (proof) of how CoD is not as broken as you would belive and that 1C provides more feedback than other if not most developers

Sadly since the change of the guard that sort of communication style has ceased, too bad. If 1C could only see it's way clear to appoint a permanent PR person for this forum most of the speculation and runours would disappear.
As I've said before BS did a good job under a difficult situation but his hands seem to have been tied behind his back, now all communication seems to have stopped. Ok a lot of that we could to some extent lay the blame on ourselves because of the moans and complaints that were aired on the forum, 80% of it can be delivered to 1C for releasing a product to the market that was far from ready.
Lets hope that the future of the series evolves with better PR than this first effort. Surely if a permanent PR person was appointed with Russian and English language as BS appeared to have, this would be a major step forward with customer relations.
The PR person doesn't necessarily have to come from the MG development team but could be appointed from the wider 1C staff so long as they had the orthority to give out progress information (not secretive development information that may affect the team) that would gives us all confidence in the future of this sim and bring back the support that will start to drift away, I believe that situation has already started.
That's mostly nonsense.

Here is a summary of the usual forum response to dev communication on the forum

DEV Announcement!

2-5 pages of praise! Great news!
2-5 pages of worrying. This news is ok, but I was hoping for more!
20+ pages of complaining. This game/update is going to suck! Why are you lying?
2-3 pages of people who trashed the devs asking for more news.
1 page of people demanding more news.
Thread locked.

I think the devs finally figured this out.

Unfortunately Ace a lot of the speculation and rumours start in other forums, then get dragged into here by our own members visiting these other forums. If there was a PR person then these rumours could be quickly squashed with some "TRUTHFULL" information from 1C.
The result of no information is lack of confidence in the whole of 1C's products, there will be a lot who have bought C.o.D. will now be reluctant to jump in and get the sequel without seeing the proof of the pudding (not good for initial sales).

If there is going to be a sequel (or not) let 1C tell us yes or no.

At least Luthier had the balls to say "no more patches" after the last release to Steam.

The only thing that is disappointing me at the moment is the lack of "official" Sli support that Luthier said has been requested with Nvidia after the final patch, that was about the middle of October and still nothing.

Thanks for the great example! They have posted TRUTHFUL info. It hasn't stopped people like you from accusing them of lying.

With the recent release of some excellent user made campaigns, I find myself doing more flying than posting now. The sim has finally become entertaining, which was made possible by the developers patches, and the community modders making good use of the FMB also made possible by the developers. I've never felt the developers weren't communicating, as they've made hundreds of posts in the forums, letting me know what they were trying to achieve.

I've never been enough of a fool to believe everything they were trying to achieve would make it into the initial release. In fact at the time I thought it impossible they could have anywhere near playable frame rates with all the highly complex features they were talking about. Oleg even mentioned features would be added as system resources allowed through the life of the series. Even then many people still throw WIP features in the developers face as "promises" for COD. I will say they were less than forthright on just how unfinished the sims actually was, but being forthright would have killed sales, and therefore any chance the sim could be completed. Its obvious their plan wasn't to just take the money and run, but to too quickly optimize COD as soon as possible after release, but at the time they probably didn't realise a complete graphic engine rewrite would be required to make it playable on their average customers systems. Personally I'm very happy they made the difficult decision to release an unfinished product, as it secured enough added financing to convince the series investors to continue their investment.

The development has had more than their fair share of setbacks, and there is still alot of work to be done even on the most basic features, but unlike most WW2 air combat developers, they've stayed the course, and probably will continue to stay the course as long as they can secure financing. The time required to rewrite the graphic engine and other required rewrites has definitely put the development in jeopardy, but the rumors in the Russian forums from people closer to development suggests the flame is still flickering, just wait for the official announcement. IMHO the delay announcemen,t and lack of info regarding the delay is probably due to sensitive negotiations regarding any number of factors, including financing, personnel, possible revenue streams for the game engine, and the priorities that would entail. Not to mention if its even financially feasible to continue the development.

This is all basic speculation, but if the developers/publishers had any devious plan as a few here suggest, the development would have quietly stopped work shortly after the release of COD in the West, licked their wounds and moved on to a more profitable genre, that takes far less work. Instead they spent millions trying to fix COD and build a Sequel, knowing full well that this time no one is going to buy the Sequel, until they're sure its a good product.

There hasn't been any information from 1C to be able to judge wether it is truthfull or not, that's the problem.
Where have I accused them of telling lies David??
