First impression:
- Little bit better fps, but far away from double. Feels Like less stuttering.
- one time the skin of the plane was not there (white)
- my pedals are not working (saitek pro pedals-will try them later on il-2 1946)
- massive building-pop-ups over cities! They`re not textured when I`m flying directly above them!
-Still shadow flickering of the trees!

I set at least everything to high/ultra(?), but the building amount to low and v-sync off and grass off. Will try more tomorrow!

Didn't try it out yet, but this

Quote:
• Texture cache failing to draw higher-res textures on close-up objects with lower settings on below-recommended video cards.
has been happening to me in all previous versions of the sim and regardless of the video drivers i use.

The affected areas were cockpits with a lot of textures (mostly in twin engined aircraft), plus the external surfaces of aircraft (both fighters and twins).

So for example, with my settings (aircraft on high, forests on low, everything else on medium) i never got to see the full resolution textures in the Blenheim cockpits and the bomb aimer position in all other bombers (it also takes a while to load them in the pilot cockpits of 111, 110 and Ju88 but they eventually render correctly), plus the stencils on the wings of fighters (like the "no step" lines and text on the 109 wings), always appear blurry, both when viewed from inside the cockpit and from external views.

The same happens with the Blenheim gunsight, all bombsights in all bombers and the magnetic compass in all RAF aircraft.

Up till now i thought this was because of my system not having enough RAM + video RAM up till now, but now that i see it mentioned specifically in the alpha patch notes maybe it's a different thing that merits reporting.

I'm running the sim on:

i7 920 @ 2.7 Ghz (no overclocking)
3GB RAM
Ati 4890 1GB
win7 x64

My graphics settings:
1680x1050
AA OFF
Vsync ON
grass, roads, shadows ON
SSAO OFF
aircraft models HIGH
forests LOW
everything else MEDIUM

I'll get to testing the new one and report if i see something else.

EDIT: The picture in the above post is pretty much what i'm describing, i just used to get it mostly in the situations i outlined above.

Those annoying blue lines are still there , but ... a really massive performance improvement in terms of frame rates - very nearly double! Using the BD track as a benchmark, the frame rates were (avg, max, min):

Ver. 15950: 27, 62, 6
Ver. 17582: 46, 103, 5

Graphic settings were identical for each version (time to go and turn them up ).

Thanks guys, a great effort! Now, if you can just have someone look at those blue lines on the horizon ...

The only weird thing so far is the red rectangle in the opening of the program

Apart from that performance increased!

My worst performance was on takeoff (5-7 fps), and now I have 37 fps, a much smoother performance on the runway

I will continue testing (I tested only once)... another weird thing was that the propeller was rotating before star engines of my spit.

Processador i7-2600K
Place-mãe GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3

Guys, are the servers even updated to run this version?

If not, the server is running a different version than you are and it's no wonder you get problems when going online.

Until your favorite servers are updated to this version, it's best to test offline to avoid getting "false alarm" bug reports that are simply caused by a mismatch between server and client versions. Cheers

ATAG says beta in server description. Everyone on there is talking about and running patch.

Very busy on there but my machine managed to keep above 40fps. Major stutters at one point though, but a lot better than usual.

Worth pointing out I turn mirror off as a matter of habit.

Still stuttering for me and nowhere near a 50% increase in FPS that was mentioned. I only get 5 FPS more then I got before the patch and that's only sometimes. Other times it dips as bad as it did before. Building still don't display textures from a distance and just pop up when you get near
