This was a prototype jet chaser in 1944 and saw some service during the late 1940's, after the war had finished.

Powered by the Rolls-Royce Griffon engine.

Top speed was 492 MPH in level flight.

This is the world's second fastest ever piston engined aircraft, the Martin-Baker MB-5 being quicker at 520 MPH.

There was also a jet powered version.
