The big question is how will these patches affect playing on Steam? Meaning, will we get banned from Steam for using them?

Bliss, this is fricking awesome. It's hard to believe, but you ATAG guys are keeping this SIM alive. It gives a lot of hope to some of us that were looking forward to more stuff because the engine and scripting is so incredibly powerful.

I, like you, am just an eager waiter. But they have a thread at their forums that you need to check out, it has a couple of screenshots in it. Things like planes above the 9000m limit, snow on maps etc.

once again; VAC is not working for Steam: IL2 CLOD...the only thing it checks is your files are up to date or if missing, corrupted. you can turn that feature off.

Its neat to see that they tackling the fm issues. As well as coloring the map differently. But are any of these changes changing the core code? Or are they just psuedo fixes tinkering with fm's with kegetys editor. I guess im just skeptical of real changes showing up anytime soon. Though they are grappling with some very sought after changes. More power to them. But i keep a skeptical eye on the whole mod situation. Until the core code has been released or properly hacked (illegal?). I dont know how much extra content or ang deep fixes we'll see.

And honestly they have until early 2014 to get the ball rolling. Simply because most will be going to BoS regardless of its quality just because it is new. We'll see. Im a fan of pretty much all sims. Cant wait to find one that actually providea that "complete" experience. Both CloD and RoF have delivered incomplete experiences. I hope the 1c team with 777's guys can get the job done. Or be beaten to the punch by modclod

There won't be any core changes without the source code. All of the mods you see in 1946 are just changes to java class files, which are out of the SFS archives and a few of the more core/important ones are muddled by the compiler and some simply can't be resolved, at least this is the way I see it meaning that all changes will be on the surface and nothing more. That and whatever DLL's they are able to open properly as is the case with carsmasters graphics mods. Like they said, we could have self shadowing in IL-2 as it's supported by the OpenGL engine it uses but without the source files this isn't a possibility.
