Some here sounds like a broken record...

Isnt there some slider or such using the FMB for weathering?? Or am I on another tangent?

You can use your favorite search engine to find it.

With current version of CloD 1.11.20362 all missions should work well except those with bf 109E-1 and Sunderland.

And when you fly past Mr. Boche in your properly painted Spitfire, tell him baronWastlan sends his regards.

Is it only the spitfires that are badly represented or is it all types? If its spits only it might be possible to fix in a mod.

Yes, of all the flyables only Spitfires are afflicted with this skin disorder since June 2011.

Place your bets!...
i have been thinking the same lately, particularly after rereading a few of luthiers and B6's cryptic quotes from the last few months

my suspicion in a feb/march 2013 release for BoM

i'd wager a fiver on that, what odds can i get ?

another though is that some of their remarks could also indicate they will skip BoM completely and release it as an MMO instead, which i think would be a major mistake. first they need to prove their CoD/BoM product is working and recoup some of their good reputation and customer trust, and only then expand to he next project. the MMO has to many new variables in it, and potential issues that can get out of control, resulting in time loss, or under delivering on what they promise. that second blow would kill the whole project, a loss to us all as a result.

so my hope is, BoM early in 2013, and an announcement on the MMO project that will follow.

one very big downside is that i hear whispers from several directions that inclusion of "end user made content" and 3e party projects (planes, ground vehicles etc) have been significantly postponed, or even cancelled completely for CoD/BoM. that would spell trouble for us because it means their "user participation" that was planned for the SoW series has been axed (indicating a major change in the project, eg the MMO). the il2 community involvement is what made il2 the great series it became, locking them out in favour of some vague MMO project with lots of additional payware from 1c would not attract the same enthusiasm i fear, and luthiers lack of urgency in addressing flight model issues and weapons errors is a further indication of that their project priorities have changed significantly.

F2P MMO is the hype now-a-days - so probably this is the next installment of Il-2. Let's see what 1C/MG will offer us in the future.

There is a slider, but the lowest weathering layer on the Spit makes it look as though it's been sandblasted, especially on dark colours.

They'll need to play that very carefully. I'm fairly certain Luthier & Co knows as much, they are not idiots. I agree what made IL2 great was the community, and I think it will be possible to keep the community effort going with the right balance of payware and free content. It will require a very fine balancing act though.

BlackSix mentioned the Sequel won't be in alpha until 2013, that said there are "rumors" swirling about IC, ROF, and Maddox Games, that doesn't sound good for Maddox Games empoyees.
