Spitfire Question

Ok, so up until now, I have flown the 109 almost exclusively. Over the last couple of days, I've been flying the spitfire and I've noticed a couple of things and wanted to know if they are known issues or if it is just specific to my set up.

1) On the ground, especially during takeoff, I get really crappy fps. Lots of stutter and etc. This never happens when I takeoff in the 109.

2) It doesn't seem like the spitfire uses any gas. I look at the tank needle and it never moves. Are there multiple tanks and it is reading a tank that is not being drawn from? If so, how do I change tanks on the gauge?
