More like agony in this case because of the long waiting.

Like many others I play a bit--usually an hour or less a couple of times a week--but I visit here at least once a day looking for information about the next patch.

May this should be turned into a pole.

Yeah me too. Seems to be the only server anyone is in most of the time. And i dont enjoy flying around for hours not being able to shoot at 1 enemy...

I haven't started CloD in months and have pretty much given up any expectation that it will be sorted to a level where it finally becomes enjoyable. However, I still check the forums regularly just in case there has been a "magic" patch that might make it worth trying again. The triumph of hope over experience!

i have much more time here than playing time with CoD
But actually its not t he game itself:

i tried some few singleplay missions from the Desastersoft adon, but singleplay with flightsims was never my thing and will never be.
Online well, i get bored on dogfightmaps VERY fast. So i leave it alone.

I am happy i was there in the IL2 classic decade with its numerous COOP online wars ! That was my time. Wondering if it will happen again. But i am now 45, so, my PERSONLA wild time is over i guess. In around 2004/5 to have several hours a day in the HL flying COOPs and building COOPmissions with FMB was not so seldom

438 hrs Played...Last played today..

Ouch! ..Hope my wife doesn't see that!

In ways I understand that people don't play single player...Im really having a hard time waiting for the patch.. I'm on these forums everyday looking also.

I do have a harder time understanding why more people don't play online though... Yes the game has its problems and studders. yes the game sometimes becomes a slide show if the furball gets too busy over a base..

Adapt and adjust..is all I can say.. because there will be a time when you are in the right situation and it will all come together and is a blast to play! It definitely has its ups and downs.. but it is also up to the player to get the most out of the game. Concentrating on what the game is lacking instead of enjoying what the game does well...I believe is alot of the problem. I was guilty of it in the beginning, trying to build missions.. and becoming increasingly frustrated with the game. I decided to just get the game running the best I could and just enjoy the game for what it is ATM.
AND a big thanks to the (ATAG) guys for giving us a place to enjoy the Sim while we not so patiently wait for the rest of this (eventually) great Flight/ Ground war... Sim S!

Very, very true -- the map is huge with a low density of players. The odds of randomly encountering another aircraft, Red or Blue, is quite low. If flying alone it's likely that encounter, if an enemy, will not be a good one. Actually, this mimics in large part the Real Life experience of a solo fighter pilot of either side over the Channel in the Summer/Fall of 1940 if his radio was U/S -- a very dangerous situation for him, and certainly fruitless from a hunter's perspective.

There are several things you can do to increase your odds of a successful encounter (ie you score a kill) and increase your overall enjoyment manyfold. Hey, if it ain't fun, what's the point?

1) Right click on the screen to build a "custom window" to monitor "server" messages and "voice" messages. This is where you get a frequent stream of enemy sightings (a/c type, # of a/c, map grid, altitude, and course). These can be either enemy AI bombers or human-flown enemy fighters or bombers. You can quickly determine your position on the in-game map and decide if you're in a position to intercept.

2) Use Teamspeak 3. It's free, easy to use, and extremely effective for locating enemy a/c. Plus we're a friendly bunch! Here's a how-to: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.co...w-to-set-it-up!

3) Chat window. Not very effective IMHO. I always keep one going to monitor any problems online, but I rarely spot useful/specific info on enemy a/c that I can use to advantage.

There are other things such as in-game settings to help spot other aircraft at a distance which can be discussed. I hope we'll see you gents back on the ATAG server and perhaps evaluating the points above to see if it improves your own personal online experience.

Let me know your thoughts!
