hi folks!
I ve played now a little time and would revert my opinion. Especially online things work much better now. Its really fun to fly online. On the other handside, if i dont set the details to max. the framerate also is ok. So I ve to say, that you ve done a good job! Except this I still could not figure out why the sim stutters always when wingmen are talking / and the text is displayed... any one else got this issue? Greetings Daniel |

after starting a mission, no matter if its single- or multiplayer, the slats of the bfs will move spastically for some seconds until they rest again.

S!
Confirmed after a lot of testing. The new ground textures only show within a "square" around your plane. Outside that textures are a lot lighter or even sand colored. This square is the same area where you can see the shimmering "edge", most easily spotted on sea. Add to this the spherical area around your plane where the LODs change to more precise, most notably seen on trees but at altitude you can see it as well on houses appearing. Before they popped up so this smooth transition is better. This LOD sphere is what causes most of stutter to me, especially with shadows on as some of shadows do not even appear even they are inside this LOD sphere or they turn to a more detailed, less shimmering one inside it. SSAO causes stutter and loss of FPS so not using it even there is a slight improvement in IQ with it on. Grass and shadows are also stutter sources along with the trees. With the trees you can also note the "LOD sphere" when at low level. The trees outside this area look a lot like the ones in original IL-2. So IMHO there is a lot to do with the graphics engine to be able to really make the sim shine. Now it requires too much fiddling and tweaking to get it to run with enjoyable FPS. For me that is a solid 60FPS at any given situation. Currently CoD has these 6FPS dips that make the stutter and longer stops with effects/AI etc. nearby. Anyways..state of sim much better than at release ![]() |

It only happens occasionally but last night it happened several times.
A bomber I'm diving on becomes a giant solid white snowball comet complete with tail before my eyes and also while shooting down a bandit it transformed and remained that way until it hit the ground. It has happened prior to the beta patch so I guess it is an ongoing thing. Anyone else seen this effect? Cirrus |

Two bugs;
First; looking at a mission from the outside I did see 3 planes stop in midair over an airfield during a strafing attack they did never move again! Second; if you land last during a mission all the planes that land before you and disappear from the game before you land are counted has destroyed! Strange is it not. It is a nice game. ![]() My PC; ![]() Win7 x64. Asus p6x58d. I7 975 3.75Ghz. System & game HDD 256Gb 10.000rpm. 12 Gb (6*2Gb) ddr3 1333Mhz memory. Geforce gtx580 1.5Gb. Trackir 5. Logitech G940. Ati blue lines are back
While not as obvious as in earlier versions , I noticed them in some quick missions flying low over water. It might be linked to the time of day - it was the Axis vs Allied dogfight ( advantage axis ) with the time set at 4am and 6am . Flying low I could see the blue lines on the horizon. I didn't test things too much but the next quick mission i did was just the 'cross country' mission and didnt notice anything with the default time. |
